During archaeological excavations in the inner courtyard of a former monastery, archaeologists discovered the bones of a young man and woman buried arm in arm. Based on this, they believed that this might be the Romanian version of Romeo and Juliet.
Network map Experts from the Cluj-Napoca Institute of Archaeology and Art History in Romania are currently conducting excavations in what they believe was the cemetery of the monastery and have found several corpses. However, the discovery of the remains of the young couple buried arm in arm surprised archaeologists, because joint burials during that period were extremely rare. This type of burial was very rare at the time, and it needed to be done in secret. The man was seriously injured and his hip was broken, which may have been the cause of his death. We believe that his injury was caused by a hard blunt blow. Since the woman apparently died at the same time and may have been in good health when she died, we speculate that she may have died because of her lover’s death and despair.
