(1) Geography and human environment




The United Arab Emirates (Arabic: امارات عربية متحدة, English: The United Arab Emirates), referred to as the United Arab Emirates, is composed of Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, Ras Al Khaimah, Fujairah, Umqwan and A federal state of seven emirates in Ajman. The UAE is located in the east of the Arabian Peninsula, bordering the Persian Gulf in the north, Qatar in the northwest, Saudi Arabia in the west and south, and Oman in the east and northeast. The coastline is 734 kilometers long with a total area of   83,600 square kilometers. The capital is Abu Dhabi.



The United Arab Emirates has a tropical desert climate with hot and dry summers and temperatures of 40.6-48.2 ° C; winter temperatures of 8-20 ° C and occasional sandstorms. The average precipitation is about 100 millimeters, mostly concentrated from January to February.

The local residents of the UAE are Arabs, and most of the residents believe in Islam. The official language is Arabic and general English.



Abu Dhabi (Abu Dhabi) is the capital of the United Arab Emirates and the capital of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. It is located on a T-shaped island in the Persian Gulf on the central and western coast of the United Arab Emirates. The total area of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi is 67340 square kilometers, including about 200 islands, accounting for 86.68% of the total area of the country.

Dubai is the most populous city in the UAE and the second largest emirate after Abu Dhabi. Dubai is a modern international metropolis, the richest city in the Middle East, and the economic and financial center of the Middle East. It is known as the "trade capital" in the Middle East and North Africa region. Located in the central Arabian Peninsula and on the southern shore of the Arabian Gulf, it is the center of the Gulf region. It is across the sea from the South Asian subcontinent, adjacent to Qatar, bordering Saudi Arabia, and adjoining Oman. The permanent population of Dubai is about 2.62 million, and the local population accounts for about 20%. Foreigners come from more than 200 countries and regions around the world. There are about 200,000 Chinese residents in Dubai.



Sharjah is a cultural city in the Middle East, and the Qur'an Monument Square is the cultural center of Sharjah. The total area is 2,590 square kilometers, and the total population in 2013 was 600,000.

(2) Political environment




Government

 The UAE Federal Supreme Council is composed of the chiefs of seven emirates and is the highest authority. The committee discusses and determines major domestic and foreign policy issues, formulates national policies, reviews the federal budget, and approves laws and treaties. The President and Vice President are elected from the members of the Supreme Council for a five-year term.  In addition to the relative unity of diplomacy and national defense, the emirates have considerable independence and autonomy. Federal funding is basically borne by the two emirates of Abu Dhabi and Dubai.



Constitution

 On July 18, 1971, the UAE Federal Supreme Council passed the provisional constitution and announced the provisional constitution on December 3 of the same year. In December 1996, the House of Chiefs passed a resolution to turn the 25-year-old temporary constitution into a permanent constitution and established Abu Dhabi as the permanent capital of the UAE.



Parliament

 The UAE Federal National Assembly, also known as the National Consultative Assembly, was established in 1972 as an advisory body with a two-year term. The parliamentary powers are to review the draft laws proposed by the federal government and have the right to propose amendments or vetoes, and to consult on treaties and agreements concluded by the federal government. The parliament is composed of 40 members who are nominated by the chiefs of the emirates and appointed by the President of the UAE. The Speaker and Deputy Speaker are elected by the Parliament. The 15th National Assembly elections were held in September 2011, and Mohamed Ahmed Moore was elected as the speaker in November.



Judiciary

The highest judicial body in the UAE is the Federal Supreme Court, which consists of the chief judge and a panel of no more than 5 judges, and is appointed by the Federal Supreme Council.



Government

 The current government was formed on February 9, 2006, with a total of 26 people.



(3) Diplomatic situation




The United Arab Emirates pursues a neutral, non-aligned foreign policy. Adhere to the peaceful foreign policy of good-neighborliness and friendship, and advocate the settlement of disputes through peaceful consultations to maintain world peace. Oppose the competition and expansion of foreign forces in the Gulf region, and emphasize that the freedom of passage of the Gulf Channel must be guaranteed. While keeping close relations with the United States and other Western countries, it also attaches importance to developing friendly and cooperative relations with Arab, Islamic, non-aligned, and other third world countries. Advocate strengthening the unity and cooperation of Gulf Cooperation Council countries. The UAE has established diplomatic relations with 146 countries.


The UAE has closer relations with the United States. The military and politicians of the two sides frequently exchange visits and consult on issues such as relations between the two countries and the situation in the Middle East and the Gulf region. In January 2009, the UAE and the United States signed an agreement on the peaceful use of nuclear energy.



Historically, Britain was the sovereign state of Afghanistan. After the independence of Afghanistan, it still maintained a traditional relationship with Britain. Britain attaches great importance to its political and economic interests in the Gulf region, and often sends military and political officials to visit Afghanistan to participate in previous Dubai International Air Shows and Abu Dhabi Defense Exhibition.



In November 1985, Afghanistan established diplomatic relations with the former Soviet Union. After the disintegration of the Soviet Union, Afghanistan continued to maintain friendly and cooperative relations with Russia and provided emergency financial assistance to Russia to help the new Russian government overcome economic difficulties. Afghanistan attaches importance to Russia's status as a big country and hopes that Russia will maintain stability and continue to play its due role in international affairs.



The UAE and France have closer relations, especially military cooperation. France has participated in all previous Dubai International Air Shows and Abu Dhabi Defence Shows and is a major weapon supplier to Afghanistan. In January 2008, the UAE and France signed a memorandum on the peaceful use of nuclear energy.
