Cancer does not mean death, three types of cancer patients may survive for a long time, or even be cured

Can you still make money when you are sick?

There is a kind of cancer called rich cancer, it is thyroid cancer.

In 2018, Zhang Zhi (pseudonym) was diagnosed with thyroid cancer during a physical examination, and the left thyroid gland was surgically removed. The entire operation went very smoothly. Except for the 10-day hospital stay after the operation, the operation did not even affect his normal life. The whole process only cost three or four thousand yuan (after medical insurance reimbursement). Because Zhang Zhi had taken out critical illness insurance before, the insurance paid him 200,000 yuan, and he also made a small profit because of it.

Thyroid cancer has a good prognosis, and some people even go back to their hometown to buy a house after receiving millions or hundreds of thousands of compensation. It is worth noting that it is already difficult to get a huge compensation for thyroid cancer like Zhang Zhi. In 2020, the "Criteria for the Use of Disease Definitions for Critical Illness Insurance (2020 Revised Edition)" revised the relevant standards, and thyroid cancer with a tiered payment of stage I or less is not a serious malignant tumor and is not covered by the "severe disease" coverage Inside.

1. Is thyroid cancer really happy cancer?

Thyroid cancer has always been called "happy cancer" clinically because it is better than other cancers in terms of cure rate and prognosis. Next, let’s take a look at the four different types of thyroid cancer.

1. Papillary thyroid carcinoma

Papillary thyroid cancer is the most common thyroid cancer, derived from thyroid follicular epithelium, accounting for 60-80% of all thyroid cancers. This type of thyroid cancer grows the slowest and has the best prognosis, with a 10-year survival rate of over 90%.

2. Follicular thyroid carcinoma

Like papillary thyroid cancer, follicular thyroid cancer is derived from the follicular epithelium of the thyroid and accounts for approximately 15% of thyroid cancers. Follicular thyroid carcinoma has the characteristics of slow growth and good prognosis, and the 10-year survival rate is about 80%.

3. Medullary Thyroid Cancer

Medullary thyroid cancer is derived from parathyroid cells, accounting for 5 to 10% of thyroid cancers. It mostly occurs after the age of 40, and the incidence in women is slightly higher than that of men. The degree of malignancy is between follicular thyroid carcinoma and anaplastic thyroid carcinoma, and the 10-year survival rate is about 60-70%.

4. Anaplastic Thyroid Cancer

Anaplastic thyroid cancer is also derived from thyroid follicular epithelium, which is relatively rare in clinical practice, accounting for 5% of all thyroid cancers. It usually occurs after the age of 50, and the incidence is higher in women. This type of thyroid cancer has the highest degree of malignancy and the worst prognosis. After the disease, it usually invades surrounding tissues and organs quickly. Many patients die within a few months of being diagnosed.

The main clinical treatment for thyroid cancer is surgical resection. If the patient has lymph node metastasis, neck lymph node dissection is required. If there is no lymph node metastasis, only thyroid lobectomy or total thyroidectomy is required.

Some patients with postoperative pathological findings at high risk of recurrence may also require postoperative radioactive 131 iodine isotope therapy. Very few patients with severe disease require local radiotherapy and targeted therapy after surgery.

Now everyone is at the point of talking about the discoloration of cancer. In fact, not all cancers are so terrible. These three cancers have a great chance to achieve clinical cures.

2. These types of cancers have a chance of long-term survival and even clinical cure

1. Cancer detected early

No matter what kind of cancer, as long as it is detected early, better treatment results can be obtained. Early-stage cancer lesions are still in a state of local non-spreading, and most of them only require surgical resection of the lesions, and subsequent radiotherapy and chemotherapy can achieve good therapeutic effects.

2. Low-grade cancer

Prostate cancer, kidney cancer, differentiated thyroid cancer, and certain types of skin cancers are all low-grade cancers. These types of cancers have the characteristics of slow development, slow growth, and difficulty in metastasis. The effect after treatment is generally better. . Most patients only need surgical resection, and no postoperative radiotherapy and chemotherapy, and the cure rate can reach more than 95%.

3. Cancers that are sensitive to treatment

Some cancer cells are very sensitive to radiotherapy and chemotherapy, and only need adjuvant therapy to kill these cancer cells, such as some leukemias, lymphomas, and germ cell tumors, which are particularly sensitive to radiotherapy and chemotherapy, and can even achieve clinical results without surgery. purpose of healing.

But many cancer patients are diagnosed at an advanced stage. Is it a dead end for advanced cancer?

Although some cancers cannot be clinically cured in the advanced stage, they can achieve long-term survival with tumors through treatment. For example, advanced breast cancer can achieve long-term survival with tumors through comprehensive treatment, and advanced lung cancer can be achieved through targeted therapy/immunotherapy. long lifetime, etc.

For patients who are unfortunately diagnosed with cancer, don't be discouraged. Doing these things can effectively help prolong survival.

3. Don't get discouraged after getting cancer, do these points to prolong survival

Li Tao, deputy director of the Radiotherapy Center of Sichuan Cancer Hospital and director of the Department of Thoracic Radiotherapy, pointed out that doing these five points can help cancer patients improve their survival.

1. Set your mind right

The mentality is of great help to the recovery of cancer patients. Patients should learn more relevant knowledge and establish a correct and optimistic attitude. You can also participate in more social activities to build confidence in yourself to overcome the disease.

2. Cooperate with doctors to standardize treatment

After being diagnosed with cancer, you need to go to a regular hospital for treatment and cooperate with doctors to develop an individualized treatment plan that suits you. Instead of blindly believing in home remedies, seek various methods that claim to be 100% cures for cancer.

3. Eat a balanced diet that is nutritious

In the diet, we should pay attention to maintaining balanced nutrition, eat more high-quality protein, vegetables, fiber-rich beans, fruits, and whole grains, etc., and maintain the habit of eating everything but not eating too much of everything, so that the body can take in a variety of foods. Nutrition.

4. Insist on exercising

Exercise can help the patient's body recover faster, but consult a doctor's advice before exercising, and it is best to develop a suitable exercise plan under the guidance of a doctor.

5. Timely review, early detection, and early treatment

After treatment, you should pay more attention to your symptoms and seek medical attention in time if you find any abnormality. Even if there are no abnormal symptoms, regular follow-up is required, so as to observe whether the disease continues to develop in time. Generally, the first year after the operation needs to be reviewed once every 3 months, every 2 to 3 years, once every 6 months, and once every 1 year after 3 years. You should consult a professional doctor for details.

The occurrence of cancer is unwilling for everyone, but if you are unfortunate enough to suffer from cancer, you must also have the right attitude and do the above things well, which will greatly help prolong your survival.
